The American Dream is a Fraud???

Here is something I posted to another person's blog. Worth thinking about I do say.

This is some deep stuff we have gotten into, but allow me a few words if I may. First off, education is of paramount importance when it comes to understanding these things that have come to past. One needs to know history, the way corporations work, and the way government works, and that is way more study then the vast majority of people want to spare.
I agree with Mal'ahk when he says that we are reponsible for the government we get. It is misguided to believe one or a few people are controlling everything in this world. The reason government has become the way it is, is because the people that work in these corporations and in government have too much fear to go against the system. They fear losing their jobs, their careers, their houses, their families. There is too much at stake for them. When you get paid six figures to work as a security officer in Iraq for one year, how many red blooded Americans would pass that up? Folks, when we look at our corporations and our government we are looking into a mirror. We are looking at a vast system that is controlled by those who know how to control it, and the system is made up of people, and they control the people because the people have fear.
Our Constitution begins, "We, The People..." Whether you want to disagree with it or not, the actions of our government and our corporations have benefited we, the people, more often then not. We are materially blessed in this nation. Nearly everyone has a roof over their head and food to eat, and many more then that are blessed to own computers, satellite dishs, SUVs, and white picket fences! Those who don't have at least some safety net non-existent in other countries no matter how small it may be.
Government & Corporations will never be perfect, but they can do plenty of good. And bad people will always exist in those organizations. We can fine tune things to minimalize it, but never erase it altogether.
And since we have a seperation of religion and state in this country how can we expect our government to make moral decisions? They decided to go to war in Iraq because they thought it was best for our country. So what if what's best for our country is retaining our power by any means necessary. The actions our government takes may not benefit you directly, but it benefits our country as a whole.
At the risk of writing a book on the subject I will stop here at the introduction. But do continue to think for yourselves, and always ask the reason why.

High Demand

You know, I hate computers that don't do what they are supposed to do, but thats besides the point. The point of this entry is to say that sometimes being wanted can be a good thing and sometimes a bad thing. They say its good to be wanted, but what happens when supply can't keep up with demand? That's what we will all eventually face, if we haven't already. My demand is getting dangerously close to my supply. So I have to prioritize, but thats a tough job. How do I turn down people who just aren't high on my priority list? It is a shame, but we all gotta live with limited time. And so I go, to spend what limited time I have on one of things that matters most to me.

Sometimes

Sometimes things just don't go your way. And as much as you don't like it you gotta learn to live with it. Its a part of life. And its time to re-assess. After a night of firsts, one has to wonder what comes next. Firsts are always good learning experiences, so are lasts, but its whats in between that makes life worth living. And hopefully we can find the path where we most enjoy life, even though you have to get through a lot of un-enjoyment to get there. Joie de Vivre

Age Matters

So on speaking about age matters I am no expert except that I'm constantly exposed to all those questions of age that pop up in different matters. I deal with people of different ages over a broader spectrum then most people and the situations I constantly am found in make me question everything that society says is true about age.
So yes, I'm being vague, but suffice it to say that age matters as much as you want it to matter. Whether you are dealing with a nine year old who wants to fight, a sixty-two year old who wants to kiss you, a sixteen year old who wants someone much older and awaits the day she turns eighteen, a forty year old who acts much younger then they are, a twelve year old that acts much older then they are, a twenty four year old who looks much younger then they are, and a twenty six year old who looks much older then they are, age matters only as much as they let it matter while wrapped up in the iron rule of society. Differentiation vs. Integration at it's best.

A bit of Hubris

You know, I sometimes wonder just how much competition is actually out there. We fear that we are never good enough to get what we want, and the competition is too fierce, but I have not found that to be the case so far. Maybe its my own hubris at work, but I just dont see it. We don't need competition to survive, but I definitely think we need it to thrive. Maybe its just that I've always turned out to be the big fish in the little pond. Hmmm. In due time, I guess I'll be moving to the bigger pond. So here is a motto I have learned to live by and it has made all the difference. More Challenge=More Fun.

So you guys gotta check out this site. Hot or Not
Its a site where u can rate people whether they are hot or not. Its kinda fun. Tom, I know you will like this one. You should post your own hot photo. lol. Anyhow, vote for my picture. Its what pops up when you click the link. ;-)

What to do, what to do?

So I have this friend who is constantly messing up her life. Hmmm, seems to be a reoccurring theme to me. Anyhow, I'm troubled as to what to do. How to help? I want to be helpful, but all I know to do is chastise her for her decisions. Is that right? She knows whats right, but she is chasing after things she knows will give her short-term satisfaction, but nothing long-term. She is after the quick fix she hopes will be a long fix. *sigh* All I know to do is to be there for them, and be their friend. ;-) I pray and hope its enough.

I love the Internet

It's all about community. I can sit here in my pj's and talk with friends spread out all over the world. ;-) My friend Sarah is now a proud member of the weblog community. Honestly, I believe this is one of the easiest ways to stay in touch, and actually have something to talk about. You know, most of the things I write wouldn't come up in casual conversation, but you could read something on my blog then talk to me on IM about it. I do believe its a shame friends dont have things to discuss just because they aren't in each others lives. So read on my friends, read on...

Why Google reminds me of Wal-Mart

Those of you that ever hang around me know that I often refer to Wal-Mart as the "Pit of Hell". I don't know why I ever came up with this purely affectionate name for my beloved store that I used to visit on a weekly basis, but it has stuck. Now maybe it's because its my general American dislike for anything that gets so big by going for the lowest common denominator. My gosh, everyone and their mother goes to Wal-Mart and so this brings me to Google. Everyone and their mother goes to Google. I remember very clearly the day I bowed to the power of Google. Metacrawler used to be my favorite search engine because it searched all other major search engines, and still does. But Google's simplicity simply amazed me and I was drawn by its power like a moth to a flame. Little did I know Google would become the god of search engines. Maybe its because I took pride to be there in the beginning when it was small and largely unknown and now that EVERYBODY uses it I don't feel like I should use it anymore. But I still do because I love the power. Power Power POWER HAhAHaHAhHAhHAhHAh

Friends are friends forever...

Isn't it great to talk to a friend that you haven't talked to in like five years? I love it. We had our own mini-reunion. We spent like an hour trying to remember people's names that we both knew, and experiences we had. And I came to the realization that I knew many many many people when I was in college. I couldn't walk anywhere on campus without seeing someone I knew. Yes, I'm a bit of a socialite. But, look at me now. Most of the time I can't find anybody I know even if I want to. And this just solidifies my idea that college is more about the people you meet then about the education you receive. At least for me it was. hmmm. Go Pitt!!!

Career Decisions

Ah, you know you are getting old when career decisions become tough. Do I take the job where I would have to work 50 hour weeks, but in two years be making like 50 or 60k and driving the company car around, or do I take the job where I could be making 20k in "residual income" and thousands more in commissions plus have the ability to take off whenever I want to go skiing or camping? One is a nice secure job, the other is a tough sales job. One is workin' for da Man and the other is basically working for myself, in other words, "writing my own ticket". What to do, what to do...?

I love kids and I don't know why

Maybe its because Im a kid at heart myself, but I love working with and hanging out with teenagers. Being a camp counselor this summer was one of the best times of my life, and I would love to do it again, but I guess I eventually have to get a "real job" and the only real job that allows me summers off is teaching. At least I think thats the case. hmmm. As always, we shall see.

No Matter...

I just spent over an hour making a minor change to my blog. It sure takes a long time to figure even the smallest things out sometimes. Wish I had someone who knew better. Your mom may have said you can do anything you put your mind to if you want. My answer to that is, "Yep, you can do it, but it could all turn out crap and be a bloody waste of a time." Ha, and that's my lesson for today kiddos.

A time-consuming endeavor...

Sometimes the only way to find out what you really want to do in life, is to find out what you really don't want to do in life....

It's Early...

Waking up to the sun in your eyes slowing raising the temperature in your room from comfortable to unbearable is very... motivational? So is a telephone call, its opportunity knocking and no matter how much it costs you gotta answer. Don't ever forget that...

Some people.....

Some people don't know when to stop swearing.......hmmmm.......who could that be.....**cough**tom**cough**

So I ah, found this cool test, yeah, and...

yep, I will be president of the US in 2032.

Haiku

Here I go, steady flow, conscious streaming ever more. Wondering dream in my head, clash in water flowing red. Blood, mud, puddle. Crash I burn in the night filled with fright, overcome by might. Stop the insanity that leads to calamity. I can;t take no more surprise in my eyes, when do I receive my prize? Emotions draw their steady beat, move my feet, to the dance that makes us prance. Why can I never settle down, wear a frown I do when a girl says Boo. When it should be a smile that takes me a mile in a second. Can you hear that, my heartbreak ache, for goodness sake. Stop!

Invenio

Ha! The first and only! Just trying this blasted thing out. Later...
