Concentration
Work has been going really well since last week. Surprisingly well. You know, work may suck, but I look at my bank account and I am happy. If I keep at it, the bills will be paid off really soon, and I can buy the toys. ;-)
So Im concentrating right now on getting the Tahitian Noni business up and running again. Tom decided to start his own business too and we are working together. Sales is one of the oldest and greatest professions on Earth. Many people would disagree with me but I really want the so called "mom & pop" stores to be more prevalent. I love small business. Id love to buy my shoes from a cobbler rather then have them shipped to me from Sri Lanka. Id rather know the farmer that produces my food. Id rather know the person who put my furniture together. Id love to be able to ask the local grocery store owner how business is going then interact with the cashier at Walmart. Call me old fashioned, but I craze more personalized interactions.
For example, I walk into Wild Oats and people know my name, and I carry on conversations with many of the people who work there. Same goes for Caldonia's aka Cal's. The door guy doesn't ask us for our ID's anymore, and we always seem to get one of three servers we know there. We walk into the gym and nearly everyone recognizes us. The lady who owns the place, Gina, asks us if we want the usual, two gyros with cottage cheese, as we head in to work out, and we say yes. As we come back from our workout we sit down and she has a pitcher of water for us and two gyros out in like 3 minutes.
Or maybe Im just a sucker for service and have been spoiled by it. Who knows. ;-)

Hehe, yes, it is nice to be recognized and treated like a person, and not another customer. The personal touch is an extra-added bonus......
God damn wal-mart
